How To Reduce Eye Strain

Have you ever experienced that strange feeling that your eyes seem to be too tired already? For sure you have and it is called eye strain. It can be a big problem to you if it happens while you are are busy doing your work, either in the office or at home, and you will have to stop it just so your eyes can take a short break. Often this works but what if it happens quite frequently? It would be best for you to find out the eye exercises to reduce eye strain.

The good thing about it is that an eye strain is seldom a serious health problem. Most of the time all you really need is to take some rest and then you are ready again for your job. However, there are indeed some instances that an eye strain could be a symptom to a more serious underlying health problem.

But before we go any further and start talking about the remedies, let us first discuss the symptoms of an eye strain. After all how can you remedy something if you are not sure what it is? Some of the typical symptoms include: blurred vision, sore neck, sore back, tired and watery eyes, a burning or itching feeling, and heightened sensitivity to the light.

There are also some symptoms that could be pointing to a more serious eye problem, and not just for simply suffering through an eye strain. Among these symptoms are: headache, dramatic change in your vision, and double vision.

Listed below are just three of the home remedies that have been proven effective to help reduce eye strain:

1. Follow the 20/20/20 rule.

This is really a very simple eye exercise that you can do while you are at work. For every 20 minutes, just focus your eyes on an object that is located 20 meters away. And do this for about 20 seconds. Then afterward, you should lean back, close your eyes, and relax for a few seconds.

2. Focus the light on the object that you are reading or working on.

What this will do is to help focus your vision in a more relaxed way. In addition to this, it will also give you with the right amount of light so you can clearly see what you are reading or working on. This in turn will help minimize the chances of an eye strain.

3. You can massage your eyelids to help avoid any eye strain.

If your body is feeling stressed or strained, what would you normally do? Get a massage. You can do the same for your eyes. What you should do is to massage your eyelid onto your brow or the bone under your brow. Keep on massaging it for about 10 seconds. Afterward, massage your lower eyelid against the bone located just below your eye. Again, you should do this for 10 seconds. This exercise will help relax your eyes after you have been reading or staring at the monitor for a long time.

These three tips are just some of the effective ways that you can reduce eye strain. Just do these every single day while you are working and you will soon find out that getting rid or preventing an eye strain is really just a matter of getting enough eye rests.
